How To Deal When You're Creatively Dead
"But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you. Which of all these does not know that the hand of the LORD has done this? In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind." -Job 12:7-10 (NIV)
I'm just going to be completely transparent with you guys, okay? I have been creatively dead for sometime now. I have tried finding inspiration through Pinterest, Tumblr, real life, etc. Nothing. I have had this constant desire to shoot, but with no point. Even writing this blog post is stressful because I have no real topic to discuss. So what better way when you're uninspired by everything to write about how uninspired you are about everything and offer tips to better help yourself and others!
Things to Try When Life Feels Boring:
Take a moment and think about why you started to do what you love in the first place. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in our day to day lives we forget our first love or why we started loving it in the first place and quickly get bored of it.
Give yourself time and space. Relax. Go for a walk. Read a book.
Explore. A family friend told me that my surroundings can be limiting to me because I tend to do things routinely. Going to the same job, seeing the same faces, going home and looking at the same four walls. We have to get out and experience things that we've never done before. See things we've never seen before. Explore!
Change your way of thinking. Instead of "I don't know" or "I can't" change that to "What if" Ask new questions, change your perspective on things, have an open mind.
- Listen to other people talk about things they love. I love when people talk about their passions. Whether it be their kids, a loved one, an art form, their faith. People are some of the most inspirational things on earth. You can learn a lot by just listening.
So now, I'm going to actually take my own advice and get creative! Have a nice day, loves.
